CEVT is looking into the possibilities of using conductive threads within textiles in order to create a more sustainable car.

The applications and functionalities of conductive threads range from safety (e.g. recognising driving behaviour from the body position in the driver’s seat) to computation, communication, entertainment, thermal purposes, healthcare, wearable electronics and protective layers in clothing. These are merely examples as the list of applications can be made longer. The creative limits on how to apply this concept within the challenge to support sustainable development are decided by our willpower to innovate!

Your task centres partly around identifying and mapping out existing conductive thread solutions and subsequently assessing them from a sustainability point of view. What positive and negative impact does the technology have on the environment, society and from an economically sustainable point of view? What does/would the life cycle of conductive threads look like within the automotive industry?

In this mission, you’ll get the chance to experience the width of conductive thread technologies and at the same time learn to critically assess it all from a sustainability point of view.

Förkunskaper We are looking for university students that have experience with and are interested in textile, innovation and sustainable development.
Omfattning This shorter mission is to be conducted in parallel to your studies. You are expected to spend roughly 20 hours per student on the task, freely distributed over approximately one month. The mission is designed for 2-3 students, so please feel free to sign up with a friend. If you sign up alone, Miljöbron may try to pair you up with another applicant.
