We are involved in all aspects of the design process, from research and concept creation to implementation and bug fixing.
About the Thesis Project
Design ethics concerns moral behaviour and responsible choices in the practice of design. It guides how designers work with clients, colleagues, and the end users of products. How they conduct the design process, how they determine the features of products, and how they assess the ethical significance or moral worth of the products that result from the activity of designing.
Design ethics can be divided into the following areas:
- User involvement
Your task is to create an ethical design framework that can be used by UX designers at the Customer Experience department at CEVT. The framework can be divided into a high-level manifesto/statement and then be further detailed in guidelines/principles as well as concrete KPIs and checklist that the work can be evaluated against.
At the beginning of the assignment, you will, together with the client, map out what impact the CX department have in the different areas of design ethics, the related guidelines that already exist at CEVT and the gap between what is being done right now and where CEVT want to be.
- Investigate the theory and methodology of design ethics.
- Benchmark ethical design frameworks used by other companies (both within and outside of the automotive industry).
- Workshop with the CX department/potentially other departments to understand the needs and wishes from the company.
- Map out CX department scope and how it relates to other parts in the organization.
- If time: try out the framework on a smaller project/feature/component for evaluation.
We invite you to apply on your own, or together with one other student.
